2 Jan 2013 à Antibes

Antibes, France on La Côte d’Azur, the Riviera, has the latitude 43° 35′ 0″ N.  Portland, Oregon is 45° 31′ 25″ N, about 2 degrees further north.  Roseburg to the south of Portland is the closest to Antibes at 43° 13′ 0″ N.  When I arrived in Antibes from Portland on January 1, the high temperature in Portland was the low temperature for Antibes.  I experienced 15 degrees more warmth in average temperature.  I left gray clouds and drizzle and was greeted with sunshine in southern France.  Location, location, location.

In the small park on the water front, many many games of boules are played, some crowding into each other. The sea wall serves as a bench for the spectators.

Families gather when the weather is warm and no school is session. They filled the local beaches with forts and picnics and games.

Fisherman bring out their gear; people lounge in the sun. In the distance one can easily see Nice, France and further still the Alps loom large.

  2. Woo-hoo, I have a follower. Today much like yesterday and the day before I wear a shirt and a scarf à la français and, of course, sunglasses–sunglasses because the sun is a bit bright.
